It was our first night in Fiji, and we managed to get accommodation a stone's throw from the Port of Denarau—literally a 2-minute walk.
As always, before leaving, I researched some of the best Restaurants and cafes in the area, looking for fresh seafood and local Fijian cuisine. I highlighted two restaurants at the Port I wanted to visit. Sails @ Denarau was at the top of my list.

Opening in 2022, Sails @ Denarau's vision was to serve the freshest seafood Fiji has to offer. They operate four fishing boats to provide a fresh ocean-to-fork experience. The restaurant serves premium line-caught fish, and divers dive daily for fresh lobster. The business has created partnerships with local villagers for fresh prawns and crab to ensure that every piece of seafood on their plates has been locally sourced. There is no imported seafood on the menu—it is all fresh and all local.
Usually, on a first night at any destination, I settle for simple comfort food while we recover from a long day of travelling. Not on this occasion. The simple and easy 4-hour flight with easy transfers from Nadi airport left us fresh and eager to explore some nice food options.
Sails is a simple 2-minute walk from our accommodation, so we planned to try fresh seafood. The experience would be our No. 1 dining experience for our Fiji holiday.
Fortunately, We got an outdoor deck seat looking out over the marina. The interior is tastefully decorated, nice, cool and air-conditioned. I'd recommend making a booking so you are not disappointed, although we were fortunate to be able to arrive without a booking.
These were the two standout dishes we ordered from the menu.

The ravioli, with a generous filling of Lobster and Prawn blend inside the ravioli, was divine. Perfectly accompanied by the rich lemon butter. 9/10

The Yellow Fin Tuna was cooked perfectly. Despite first thinking the portion size was small, the taste and flavour made up for it. The prawns were cooked entirely in the shell and were fresh and delicious. The chilli oil drop added just a tiny element of heat but perfectly balanced with the silky kumala puree (sweet potato) 8.5/10
Sails @ Denarau also offers an extensive drinks menu, including imported wine and local and imported beers. If you are after a cocktail, Sails also have you covered.
