Savoring Paradise: Exploring the Best Restaurants in Bali

Writer's picture: Book DirectBook Direct

Bali has a diverse range of quality restaurants, from traditional Balinese cuisine to Western-style burgers and various international dining experiences. From unique street warungs to 5-star restaurants, Bali understandably has it all to cater for the volume of tourists visiting annually.

One restaurant that tempted our tastebuds was in the small northeastern town of Candidasa. Vincent's Restaurant was highly recommended through social media groups and local resorts. To say we had high expectations was an understatement. Rarely have I seen such glowing recommendations from so many.

Vincents presented itself as a beautiful, relaxed bar, lounge, and restaurant known for its various Jazz artists, who call Vincent's home each Thursday night.

The restaurant is set among lush green foliage with elegant mood lighting, creating a romantic yet casual atmosphere. Immediately, we felt relaxed and welcome. The thick, lush green foliage of the plants in the outdoor courtyard offered a slight privacy screen.

The service at Vincent's rivals that of many fine-dining restaurants. Instantly, we were greeted and offered an ice-cold towel for the humid conditions.

Our trip to Bali fueled my appetite for experiencing local cuisine. Whilst there were many of my favourite European dishes on the menu, I wanted to try fresh and local. I decided to order the special of the day, which happened to be locally caught Mahi Mahi, commonly referred to as Dolphinfish or by the local name ikan lemadang. The fish was cooked superbly and was accompanied by steamed vegetables. The dish was simple, allowing the fish to be the hero of the dish. The texture of the fresh fish was firm, moist and flavoursome. Probably one of my favourite dishes on the 14-day trip to Bali.

It was also pleasant and refreshing to see an international beer, wine, and spirit list in an independent restaurant outside of the major resorts. The drinks menu was extensive and included everything from fresh juice to draught beer on tap.

Vincent's was a culinary delight in a beautiful setting. 9/10

Bookings are highly recommended as the restaurant is one of the most popular in the small town of Candidasa.
